FDSR Web Privacy Statement

The Financial Data Submission and Reconciliation (FDSR) System is a four agency initiative involving the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC), the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) and the Canada Research Chairs (CRC).  The FDSR System consists of a Web application and a database that are hosted by NSERC on behalf of the four agencies.  Hereafter, CIHR, SSHRC, NSERC and CRC will be referred to simply as “the agencies.”

The agencies are committed to providing visitors with a Web site that respects their privacy.  Here is some important information about our data gathering and dissemination practices:

Personal Information

All personal information held or collected by the agencies is protected under the federal Privacy Act.  This means that at the point of collection you will be asked to give your consent, informed of the purpose for which personal information is being collected, and advised that you have a right of access to that information.

Internet Protocol (IP) Addresses

The agencies use software programs that monitor network traffic and detect unauthorized attempts to upload or change information, or otherwise cause damage.  These programs record the IP addresses of computers that visit this site.  They also record the date and time of visits, the pages viewed, and the browsers and operating systems used by visitors.  We do not attempt to link this information to the identities of individual users, unless an attempt to damage the site has been detected.

Cookies

The agencies do not use “cookies” to record information about you or your usage of this site.  (A “cookie” is a file that may be placed on your hard drive without your knowledge by a Web site to allow it to monitor your use of the site.)

Links to Third Party Sites

This site may contain links to Web sites that are not administered by the agencies.  The agencies are not responsible for the privacy practices or the content of such Web sites.
